MCGC Scholarship Applications

There has been some confusion as to the due date of the MCGC Scholarship applications. The due date on the form is March 1st. However when the applications were handed out all guard members were asked to return them to me by Saturday February 21. This was for two reasons. 1st it gives me a few days to look them over and add the items that I am required to add to the application and a few days for fixing things should there be anything wrong and 2nd it give the kids who forgot to get things done a short grace period.

I will take applications up to Friday, February 27, 2009 so that I can get them put together and mailed out by March 1. All applicatons must be turned in to me so I can sign them. I will mail them to the scholarship committee in one big envelope.

Hope this clears things up.
:) Mac

Almost Home: 6-8 pm @ LMS. - Please use the back doors to enter the school. The front doors will be locked.

Saturday - Rehearsal Schedule
Exit 52: 10:00am - 1:00pm @ LHS
Almost Home: 11:00am - 1:00pm @ LHS
Please bring a sack lunch or money for the consession stand. Guard members will not be allowed to leave the building before the start of the show.

WGI Ferndale Regional

Ferndale Regional Schedule Posted!
Follow the link to check it out.

Exit 52 is scheduled to go on last in Scholastic A at 2:41pm. This is good news since we will not have to leave at 8am to get there on time. :)

Please note that we cannot use our MCGC staff badges at this show so parents will need to purchase tickets. Prices are as follows. . .
Prelims - $9
Finals - $14
Combo - $18
Non-Finalist Backside Seating - $0

I believe that I can get a $2.00 per ticket discount if we buy more than 10 tickets in advance so if you are interested in doing that, please let me know asap. If we do not make finals students may purchase tickets to sit on the front sideline. If they don't want to buy a ticket they can sit on the back sideline for free.

More details on the day to come soon.

Housing Arrangements for MCGC Championships

This year we will be staying at the Hampton Inn Saginaw. We currently have 13 rooms reserved for guard members and chaperones. I will have a sign up sheet for chaperones later this week. If you don't like the idea of rooming with three middle school or high school kids and would like to reserve your own room for Friday night or would like go get a room for Saturday night please call the Hampton Inn to make your reservation as soon as possible. Rooms are going fast. The group rate we were able to get was $64 + tax and fees etc. The total should be just under $68 per room.

Please note: Friday rooms are for for Friday only. If you are getting a room for Suturday plan on having to check out and check back in.

Notes about the hotel. . .The Hampton Inn offers free wireless internet and a deluxe continental breakfast of over thirty items! There is an outdoor pool but it will be closed for the season. They told me that no ice skating is allowed!

At this point I would plan on meeting at LMS to leave no later than 4:00pm on Friday. More details to come later.

Lowell Home Show Volunteer Sign Up

The Lowell Winter Guards, Exit 52 and Almost Home, will be hosting a Winter Guard and Drum Line Competition on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Lowell High School.

There are a lot of jobs that need to be filled for the day. The event should run from roughly 3:00-10:00. I am willing to split shifts if you can only work part of the day. Just let me know when you are available and I’ll make it work. Most of the jobs are pretty low stress but require a responsible adult. If you are interested in helping out please let me know. You may sign up one of three ways:
1) Return a paper to Mrs. Mac with the volunteer information (Name, email, phone)
2) Sign up at
http://exit52.pbwiki.com/ (Click the Home Show Volunteer Sign Up link)
3) Email me at
exit-52@hotmail.com with volunteer information. (Name, email, phone)

Due to the scope and size of the event we are hosting on February 21. Each member of Exit 52 and Almost Home is required to provide at least one adult volunteer the day of the event. If you have any friends or relatives who would be willing to work at our event please don’t hesitate to ask them as well.
We are short about 25 volunteers at this point so we really need help and we need it fast!
