Exit 52 Audition/Rehearsal Dates

Exit 52 Practices will be at the Unity HS on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:00 starting November 9. The first two rehearsals will serve as your audition for Exit 52.

Middle School students who marched in Almost Home for at least one year are welcome to audition for Exit 52. Please keep in mind that you would need to be available for rehearsals from 5:30-9:00 each week on Monday and Thursday instead of after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I hope that some of you will consider this opportunity and the challenge that it would offer you.

If you have any questions, please see contact Mrs. Mac. Exit-52@hotmail.com or come see me at school. :)

Parent Jobs for 2010

Welcome to the 2010 season. Another great season is just around the corner. With that being said, there are now many roles to fill within our organization. I am looking for parents to fill the following roles. Anyone is welcome to help, even if you are a first year guard parent. All chairpersons/coordinators will be given a staff badge good for free admission into every MCGC event. This is just my way of saying thank-you for the extra effort in making things run smoothly again this season. You will essentially be the core of what I hope will turn into the Winter Guard boosters. The Winter Guard Program cannot run without your help. Please consider stepping into one of these roles to make this our best season yet. :)

Parent Jobs for 2010
(Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to take a position. Although these positions have not been given formal names in the past. Those who have done these jobs in the past will be given the opportunity to continue if they choose to before the job is given to another parent. )
1. Fundraising Chairperson - Organize and run all fundraisers for the guards. Work with the Home Show Program Coordinator to distribute Ad Sales Packets to all guard members and collect money from ad sales. I have information for several fundraisers including Noodle & Company, Little Caesars, Cookie Dough and Buffalo Wild Wings. You may organize and run as many fundraisers as you see fit. :) Car Washes will be a good idea for the off season.
2. Prop Coordinator - Work with the instructional staff to design and build props, paint the floor, assist in the loading and unloading of props at MCGC competitions.
3. Sewing Coordinator - Coordinate the sewing of uniforms, show flags and mini-flags to be sold at MCGC Championships.
4. Home Show Volunteer Coordinator - Coordinate all volunteer workers for our home show on January 30. There is a page on this wiki already set up to help with this.
5. Home Show Program Coordinator - Work with the Fundraising Chairperson to distribute Ad Sales Packets to all guard members. Collect all ad copy. Layout the program and prepare for printing. You will essentially be the editor of the home show program. You will not be responsible for collecting any money.
6. Home Show Concessions Coordinator - Coordinate the concession stand for our home show on January 30. This does NOT include lining up volunteers. The volunteer coordinator will do this but you will need to communicate to make sure that all shifts are covered.
7. Home Show Signage Coordinator - Coordinate all signage for the home show on January 30. This will include signs to be hung up inside the building as well as signs for the parking lots. (Signs for inside the building are for the most part already printed and may be reused from one year to the next.)
8. Exit 52 Store Coordinator - Inventory all merchandise and communicate with Mac when things need to be reordered. Coordinate the putting together of mini-flags to be sold at MCGC Championships. (The sewing coordinator will work on coordinating the sewing of the mini-flags and poles will be provided by Mac.)
9. Banquet Coordinator - Coordinate the end of the year celebration. There will be funds available to help pay for this.

This is WGI. . .

Have you ever wondered what is Winter Guard? Here are just a few short videos that will help answer that question. Winter Guard International (WGI) is the national competitive circuit for indoor winter guards and drum lines. The Lowell guards compete in the Michigan Color Guard Circuit (MCGC) which is a local version of WGI within Michigan.

These videos came from the "What is WGI" video contest held by WGI in 2007. I hope you enjoy these and that they help you better understand this activity that I have come to love so much over the years. -Mac
